Class 56 In order that a Westlake type of glass-blowing machine may be used for making tumblers having an extra bottom thickness, a marver plate is mounted so as to be under the spindles when they are vertical after they have collected a gob and preceding the entry of the gob into the mould. The marver plate arrests the elongation of the gob and causes a thickening of the base of the gob.
