Abstract

725,124. Filing papers. JANSSEN, J. H. J. Nov. 3, 1953 [Nov. 5, 1952; April 10, 1953], No. 30344/53. Class 146(1). A loose leaf binder comprises a cover consisting of top and bottom panels 1, 2 connected to a rigid back 3, a plurality of rigid binding arches 4 secured to one panel 2 to extend in planes substantially at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the back 3 and preferably having means 5 for clamping loose leaves 9 bound on the arches 4 to the panel 2, and the other panel 1 being provided with a plurality of slots 6 or one or more recesses into which the arches 4 fit when the cover is closed so that when the cover is placed in an upright position with its back extending vertically, the weight of the bound leaves 9 is distributed over the top and bottom panels 1, 2. A lever arch file is described and the two slots 6 in the top panel 1 are reinforced by metal rings 7 through which the topmost portions 8 of the arches 4 extend. The reinforcing rings 7 may each be provided on their lower side 11 with a projection 10 to engage behind to top 8 of the arch 4, the engagement preventing swing- ing open of the panel 1 and also preventing opening of the binder except in the horizontal position.
