724,748. Sorting solid materials. VRIES, S. DE. Aug. 11, 1953, No. 22084/53. Class 117. Fruits, bulbs, &c. are graded by a screening frame having graduated perforations along its length and arranged to be vibrated with an inclined motion towards the receiving end. A shaft 15 carrying snail cams 17 drives camfollowers 18 which are attached by belts 22 to the frame 5, whereby it is moved positively downwards and then released. Springs 3, 4 return the frame against stops 9 faced with layers of damping material 11 (e.g. leather rubber, felt, or cork). A roller 14 on the frame engaging an inclined stop 13 guides the frame towards the receiving end during its downward movement.
