724,327. Batteries. WILLARD STORAGE BATTERY CO. March 30, 1953, No. 8677/53. Class 53. A dry primary battery comprises negative electrodes 10 of magnesium in the form of sheet, screen or powder retained in a grid, and positive electrodes 11 consisting of a copper screen coated with copper oxychloride made into a paste with water. The paste may include small quantities of silver chloride, potassium chloride, ammonium chloride and copper dust. The electrodes are separated by absorbent insulators 12 of wood or bark fibre and the container 13, which may be made of polystyrene, is provided with a cover 26 having filling openings 27 for the introduction of water. Before the battery is put into use the openings 27 may be covered with waterproof tape 28.
