Class 38 (5) A cut-out for a kettle immersion heater 9 comprises a tubular casing 6 fixed at one end to a plug 7 carrying pins 10 connected to the heater 9, and at the other end to a hollow boss 11 secured to the heater. A plunger 16 extends through the casing 6 and has a bifurcated end 21 formed with projections (or recesses) 22 which co-operate with ribbed rollers 15, the rollers normally being prevented from rotation on spindles 14 by fusable metal whereby the plunger is held retracted against the bias of a spring 17 acting between a projection 18 in the casing 6 and a projection 19 on the plunger. On overheating, the rollers 15 rotate, permitting the plunger end 20 to force a socket connector off the pins 10.
