722,140. Continuous - - casting machines. BOHLER & CO., AKT.-GES., GEB. July 11, 1952 [July 11, 1951], No. 17498/52. Class 83 (1). The delivery end of a liquid-cooled continuous-casting mould 1 is closed and opened by an external plug 3 movable into and out of engagement with a seating 2 which is tapered toward the opening, the mould being movable in the direction of closing movement of the plug against the action of resilient means such as springs 8. A soft or plastic material 4 such as asbestos fibres, metal filings, sawdust, &c. is provided between the mould wall and the plug, and an expansion gland 6 is provided between the mould and the cooling jacket 5.
