Abstract

A synthetic resin composition comprises at least one synthetic resin and at least one solid material selected from the group consisting of hexahaloethanes, octahalopropanes, decahalobutanes, hexahalobenzenes and hexahalocyclohexanes compounded to form a homogeneous solid phase, the percentage by weight of the solid material being not greater than 15 per cent of the weight of the synthetic resin composition. Mixing may be effected by heating or by solution in a common solvent which is later removed, and the mixing operation may be effected under pressure and in the presence of an inert gas. A corrosion inhibitor such as thiourea and a stabilizer for chlorinated derivatives, such as a lead soap, may be incorporated. Synthetic resins specified are polystyrene, superpolyamides, polyvinyl chloride, cresol-formaldehyde condensation products and a methacrylic resin. Other composition ingredients specified in the examples are dioctyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate and tin dibutyl dilaurate.
