Abstract

1308816 Hollow ethylene copolymer articles IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 Oct 1971 [5 Nov 1970] 52709/70 Heading B5A Hollow articles are formed from a free-flowing composition comprising (a) a copolymer of ethylene with an ethylenically unsaturated comonomer which is a fatty acid and/or ester of 3-8 carbon atoms (b) a cross-linking agent and (c) a foaming agent by rotational moulding above the softening point of the copolymer and cooling to solidify it. The comonomer may be vinyl acetate, comprising 15-28% by wt. of the copolymer. The composition may also include talc, chalk, e.g. whiting, clay, silica, dolomite, titania, barium sulphate or carbon black as filler and a tack resin to increase adhesiveness such as a glycerol or pentaerythritol ester of a hydrogenated wood resin. Powdered polythene powder may also be added.
