Abstract

721,574. Manure distributers. SXRICH, J. Oct. 28, 1952. [Nov. 2, 1951] No. 27042/52. Class 6 (1). A manure distributer provided with means for feeding manure to rotary spreaders is characterized in that the feeding and spreading means are mounted on a rigid platform which is detachably secured to the floor of a trailer. As shown the trailer is provided with a floor i. which is tilted by a hydraulic cylinder h. The platform is formed by a plate 3 mounted on a frame comprising side members 1 and crosspieces 2. The feeding means comprises endless belts 5 mounted on sprockets 6, 7 and provided with transverse scrapers 10. Two side members 14 are fixed to the platform and support the spreading means which comprises rotary cutters L<SP>1</SP>. L<SP>2</SP> which feed manure to blades 21 fixed on a tube 19. A shaft 22 is mounted on the platform and is connected to a tractor power shaft by belt and pulley drive 24 and a coupling shaft 30. The shaft 22 drives the cutters L<SP>1</SP>, L<SP>2</SP> and blades 21 through a speed changer 33. The belts 5 are driven in an intermittent manner by means of a lever 48, pivotally mounted on a shaft 9 carrying the sprockets 7 for the belts 5, which moves a ratchet wheel 50 keyed to the shaft 9 by means of a pawl 49. The lever 48 is driven from the speed changer 33 by means of a crank 46 and crankshaft 47. In a modification the endless belts or chains may operate independently of each other and may be provided with teeth or forks. The cutters L<SP>1</SP>, L<SP>2</SP> may be replaced by crankshafts which carry forks and the blades 21 may be replaced by a rotatable horizontal disc or a screw.
