Abstract

720,006. Adding filler &c. to paper pulp. HJELTE, S. M. Jan. 11, 1951 [Jan. 11, 1950], No. 816/51. Class 96. Additives, e.g. blanc fixe, kaolin, talcum, limestone, peat, pigments, plasticizers, waterproofing, fireproofing, fungus- or insect-proofing, or warping-preventing substances, &c., are fed, as by spraying at 9a, 9b and 9c from a pipe 8, to pulp just before and/or while it is being subjetted to strong suction from the first of several compartments of a suction box 7, subsequent compartments of which are at ordinary suction values. Two slices 4 are used, and a perforated band 12 of rubber, &c., may support the wirecloth 6 over the suction box. The filler, &c., may be added partly or wholly as a powder, e.g. from a vibrating distributer.
