719,429. -Making collapsible containers. FLEXIPAC, Ltd. Jan. 21, 1953 [Aug. 26, 1952], No. 21397/52. Class 87 (2) A collapsible container is made by moulding a head portion 19 on to. a preformed tubular body portion 18, the head portion being heated during moulding by high frequency dielectric means and being at the same time welded on to the body portion. The mould shown comprises an insulating 'base 15 enclosing a brass matrix 11, and an insulating cover 16 secured to the base. The body portion 18 is threaded over a mandrel 13 having a locating pin 14 which passes through an insulating sleeve 22. The mandrel is one electrode and the matrix the other electrode. The head may be made from polyvinyl chloride which is inserted as a pellet into the matrix and pressed therein by means of the mandrel. The body part may be formed by extrusion or by welding the edges of a sheet to form a tube; this welding may be performed by high frequency heating. The end of the screw-threaded neck 19A may be formed with a thin skin thereover, by reducing the length of the pin 14 so that it does not project to the end of the neck.
