Abstract
719,350. Weighing apparatus. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T. Nov. 18. 1953 [Aug. 23, 1952], No. 21213/52. Class 143 In order to totalize a series of weighings, an indicator disc 18, Fig. 2, can be periodically clutched to a spindle 4 which rotates in accordance with a single weighing, and the number of complete revolutions of disc 18 is counted by an electrically operated counter. As shown, a solenoid 10 when actuated draws members 13, 14 inwards to declutch disc 18 from clutch member 6 keyed to shaft 4. When solenoid 10 is energized, members 13, 14 are allowed to separate under action of spring 8 and clutch 18 to 6, so that 18 can be rotated either as the weight is applied to or removed from the member rotating shaft 4. Thus by suitably operating solenoid 10, disc 18 can be stepped on in accordance with individual weighings. At each complete revolution, a contact 19, 20 is made to actuate an electrical counter. To prevent contact 19-20 being made twice when disc 18 oscillates about its position of rest, a solenoid 23, Fig. 3, is energized to rock a spring-loaded catch 24 to co-operate with a stop 25 on disc 18 to prevent the disc swinging back beyond the zero mark, but allow it to progress beyond the zero mark on the next weighing. The solenoid 23 is de-energized when the finger 19 makes contact with a contact diametrally opposite contact 20. Specification 662,455 is referred to.
