Abstract
At least one layer of a fabric of a cellulose derivative, e.g cellulose acetate, that is capable of stretching is applied to a part of a human body, the fabric being applied in tension to conform to the shape of the part. Before or after the fabric is thus applied it is treated with a volatile liquid that exerts a solvent action on the fabric. The liquid is allowed to evaporate whilst the fabric is on the body, whereby the fabric is rendered substantially incapable of stretching, and the fabric thus treated is removed in the form of a flexible mould. This mould may be a pattern for a dress or for making corsets, brassieres, gloves, surgical belts and footwear. The fabric may be knitted, woven or felted cellulose acetate fabric. The solvent for cellulose acetate may be any of these four liquid mixtures:- Percentages .Methanol.35.50.33.43.-.5.50 .Iso-propyl alcohol.35.43.-.-.5.43 p .Dimethyl ketone.28.55.-.25.50.88.55 .Formaldehyde.0.25.-.1.15.0.25 .Diacetone alcohol.0.15.-.0.33.0.15 .Benzaldehyde.0.10.2.07.-.0.10 .Ethanol.-.15.50.61.04.- .Methyl ethyl ketone.-.35.20.-.- .Benzyl alcohol.-.10.55.-.- .Acetaldehyde.-.3.20.-.- .Isoamyl alcohol.-.-.7.27.- .Methyl iso-butyl ketone.-.-.4.55.- .Acetophenone.-.-.0.12.- the balance being colour and perfumeALSO:At least one layer of a cellulose derivative fabric that is capable of stretching is applied to a part of a human body, the fabric being applied in tension to conform to the shape of the part. Before or after the fabric is thus applied it is treated with a volatile liquid that exerts a solvent action on the fabric. The liquid is allowed to evaporate whilst the fabric is on the human body part, whereby the fabric is rendered substantially incapable of stretching, and the fabric thus treated is removed from the part in the form of a flexible mould. This mould may be a pattern for a dress, and may be laid out and cut in such a way that a number of flat pieces are obtained which can be used as patterns for cutting parts of a dress; or it may be a pattern for making corsets, brassieres, gloves, surgical belts and footwear. In making a dress pattern the fabric may be knitted, woven or felted cellulose acetate fabric which is made into a garment adapted to fit the person closely, e.g. from hips to neck, the garment being sewn up the back or provided with a sliding clasp fastener. The volatile liquid may be applied to the garment before the person puts it on, or after, in which latter case it may be sprayed on. The solvent for cellulose acetate may be any of these four liquids:- .Methanol.35.50.33.43.-.5.50 .Iso-propyl alcohol.35.43.-.-.5.43 .Dimethyl Ketone.28.55.-.25.50.88.55 .Formaldehyde.0.25.-.1.15.0.25 .Diacetone alcohol.0.15.-.0.33.0.15 .Benzaldehyde.0.10.2.07.-.0.10 .Ethanol.-.15.50.61.04.- .Methyl ethly ketone.-.35.20.-.- .Benzyl alcohol.-.10.55.-.- .Acetaldehyde.-.3.20.-.- .Isoamyl alcohol.-.-.7.27.- .Methyl iso-butyl ketone.-.-.4.55.- .Acetophenone.-.-.0.12.- the balance being colour and perfume
