717,338. Animal traps. CHENHALL, E. D. Dec. 22, 1952, No. 30036/51. Class 5 (1) In throw-over traps in which a pivoted rod 7 holds the striker 2 and is itself held by the bait holder 9, the latter is given a range of linear movement by hinging it beneath elongated staples 10. As a result, the loop 11 may be set back from the end of the rod 7, thus taking advantage of the natural tendency of the animal to pull the, bait to reduce any over-sensitiveness in release. In a modification, the staples are replaced by a wire loop projecting from wires which at their other ends are integral with the staples 6 securing the striker spring 3. The bait holder has a tongue resting over the loop and its back end holds down the rod 7.
