Abstract

The invention comprises an ester of piperonylic acid with the n-butyl ether of diethylene glycol of the formula <FORM:0716519/IV (b)/1> It is made by reacting the mono-n-butyl ether of diethylene glycol with piperonylic acid chloride in benzene in the presence of pyridine and is used in pyrethrum insecticides (see Group VI).ALSO:Insecticidal preparations comprise piperonylic acid n-butoxylethoxy-ethyl ester (see Group IV(b)) together with a pyrethu3 extract. An example describes an insecticide comprising 0.2 per cent of the above ester and 0.025 per cent of pyrethrins in a kerosene solvent.
