Abstract
716,317. Filters; straining machines. COPPEE ET CIE, E. June 5, 1951 [Nov. 10, 1950], No. 13270/51. Class 46. [Also in Group XXX] In a strainer of the kind comprising an endless conveyer having a liquid permeable surface which along the upper run of the conveyer receives a mixture of liquid and solid matter in fine particles, the upper run is subjected to vibrations of which the frequency is equal to at least 1,000 per minute and of which the amplitude is less than 3 millimetres. As shown, the conveyer comprises buckets 2 with perforated bottoms carried by endless chains 3, 4, the upper runs of which rest on angle irons 11 supported by uprights 19 on a frame 12 suspended by springs 13. The frame 12 is vibrated by a vibrator 14 comprising an electric motor with an out-of-balance weight, the speed of the motor being 3,000 r.p.m. and the amplitude of the vibrations 0.1 to 0.3 m.m. The bottom of each bucket comprises a fine metal fabric interposed between two perforated plates which are bolted to the walls of the bucket and joined to one another along their edges by welding. In the modification, Fig. 3, the chains 3, 4 rest on a support 17 carried by rubber cushions 18 on the angle irons 11, the vibrator 14 being secured to the support.
