Abstract
715,361. Draught excluders. Mouldings. GENERAL MOTORS, Ltd. Jan. 30, 1953 [March 5, 1952], No. 5756/52. Classes 20 (3) and 20 (4) A resilient strip 40, for use, e.g. as a moulding, sealing strip, or the like, comprises a channelshaped part having limbs 32, 33, and a tail portion 46, the inner surface 48 of the limbs 44 having serrations 50 to engage tongues 30, 32, on spring clips 24 mounted on a strip 20, secured to one wall 10 of a double walled article, e.g. a refrigerator, and the curled part 54 of the tail portion 46 engaging beneath a bracket 34 and being held therein by a sealing compound 56, the bracket 34 being screwed to the other wall of the double walled article. The space between the walls 10, 12 is filled with heat insulating material 14. In a modification, Fig. 6, a spring clip 24a is mounted on the flange 16 of the outer wall 10, the strip 20 being omitted and the limbs 42a, 44a being spaced further apart so that the teeth 50 engage the tongues 30a, 32a which project from the clip 24a. When the strip is adapted to act as a seal between the door and the cabinet it is either made of a softer material or the outer limb is provided with a tubular part.
