715,146. Treating sewage; conduits. BRITISH FARMING DEVELOPMENTS, Ltd. Dec. 15, 1952 [Dec. 31, 1951], No. 30423/51. Classes 33 and 111. [Also in Group X] The floor of a piggery or the like has outlets 14, Fig 2, under . alternate partition walls 1 through which liquid excreta may drain and solid excreta may be swept into a conduit 10 divided by' upstanding baffles 17 into compartments, preferably one for each inlet 14, so that solid and liquid in a compartment may mix thoroughly before overflowing into the next compartment in the direction of a sump 16. A downwardly directed baffle 19 is preferably provided on the side of each baffle 17 remote from the sump to assist inter-mixing of solid and liquid excreta. The floor 11 is preferably of concrete and slopes slightly downwards towards the sump 16. The sides and top consist of concrete slabs 12 and 13 respectively. Protective baffles 15 are provided over each opening 14. Where the conduit is provided in a cow-house the top slabs 13 are sunk relative to the floor so as to form a channel. Further baffles 20 may be provided.
