Abstract
714,824. Batteries. AKTIEBOLAGET TUDOR. Nov. 25, 1952, [April 4, 1952.] No. 29864/52. Class 53. The bus bar 3 which connects the plates of like polarity in an accumulator is provided with a copper insert I4 having a longitudinal channel I5 through which water is circulated to cool the bus bar and electrolyte. Circulation of the electrolyte is produced by the cooling of the upper layers. Water is introduced into and withdrawn from the channel I5 through the hollow terminal lugs 9 which are provided with nipples 24 for connection to a water supply system. Adjacent cells are connected electrically by copper tubes I8, I8<SP>1</SP> which are connected together by a flexible braided copper tube 23. An inner flexible tube 22 conveys the cooling liquid from one cell to the next. Fig. 2 shows in plan two cells 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, each bus bar 3, 3<SP>1</SP> having four hollow terminal lugs, the cells being connected by hollow conductors 23. Cooling liquid in a pipe 26 is introduced into a branched pipe 25 and passes into the two lugs I8<SP>1</SP>a, I8<SP>1</SP>b and through the bars 3<SP>1</SP>, 3, being withdrawn through a pipe 28.
