Abstract

713,646. Centrifugal separators. SAITO, T. April 4, 1951 [Dec. 6, 1950; Dec. 6, 1950], No. 7815/51. Class 23. A centrifugal separator for separating liquid from pulp steeped in caustic soda comprises a variable-threaded conical member 6 surrounded by a cylindrical member 11 so as to define therewith an annular channel of varying crosssection ; the members 6, 11 being rotated at different speeds. The member 6 has vanes 10 and is mounted on a liollow spindle 4 through which the pulp is introduced into the centrifuge. The member 11 carries inner and outer rods 17, 18 respectively, which are interconnected by annular plates 19, and includes a conical portion 14 disposed within the member 6. The casing of the centrifuge is in two parts 21, 22 formed with a space 23 therebetween and has a cover 25 provided with a tangential discharge orifice 26 for the pulp ; the liquid being discharged through a conduit 24.
