712,727. Electric blasting fuzes; pyrotechnic compositions; explosive materials. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 22, 1953 [Aug. 1, 1952], No. 19532/52. Classes 9(1) and 9(2) The fusehead of a ventless delay electric detonator is made by dipping the bridge wire into a suspension of 90 parts (by weight) lead mononitroresorcinate and 10 parts of potassium chlorate in a 7.5 per cent solution of nitrocellulose in a mixture of n-amyl acetate and n-amyl alcohol. The bead thus formed on the bridge wire is dried, re-dipped into said composition, re-dried and then dipped into a suspension of a cerium-magnesium alloy, lead dioxide, charcoal and aluminium powder in a 2.5 per cent solution of nitrocellulose in a mixture of n-amyl acetate and n-amyl alcohol. The bead is then coated by dipping consecutively into a 5 per cent solution of nitrocellulose in a mixture of diethyl ether and ethyl alcohol, a 10 per cent solution of ethyl cellulose in a mixture of diethyl ether and ethyl alcohol, and a 8 per cent solution of ethyl cellulose in a mixture of n-amyl acetate and n-amyl alcohol with intermediate dryings. In a modification, the first coating is formed by dipping the bead into a 10 per cent solution of ethyl cellulose in a mixture of diethyl ether and ethyl alcohol.
