Abstract

712,669. Sawing. OREGON SAW CHAIN CORPORATION. July 23, 1952 No. 18692/52. Addition to 658,729. Class 145 (2) [Also in Group XXV] A saw chain comprises a number of right- and left-hand cutter links each having a depth gauge 36, a sawdust recess 40, a guide portion 26 engaging a slot 18 in a guide bar 10 and a portion 39 bent laterally outwards and ending in a flange 45 extending laterally inwards to at least the median plane of the saw chain, bevelled cutting edges 48 and 50 being formed on the flange 45 and portion 39 respectively. The cutting edges 48 and 50 are raked rearwardly and the portion 39 and flange 45 slope rearwardly to provide cutting clearance. Spacer links 21 may be provided between the cutter links. An additional depth gauge may be provided at the near end of the portion 39, extending above the level of the gauge 36 by the depth of cut. A felt lubricating pad p may be fitted in a hole 21 x in each cutter and spacer link, near the ends of the side links 22.
