Abstract

A sieve bottom is formed from sheet metal 1 provided with oblique holes 2 of a diameter not exceeding 1.5 mm., the feeding side 6 of the sieve being provided with ridges 5, and a plane surface 9 which rises slightly towards the transverse step 8 and is arranged in front of each hole 2. If the sieve bottom moves in the direction x, the oblique -hole facilitates the passage of material through the aperture and the embossed edge of the hole guides the material towards the hole and also protects the edge of the hole from wear. The embossed edge may also produce a crushing effect on the material to be screened. In some cases the sieve can be moved in the opposite direction to ensure gentle treatment of the material being screened.
