Class 52(2) A bed settee, of the kind provided, at one side, with a framed upstanding support over which the bedclothes may be placed and covered so that the support forms an upholstered back rest when the bed settee is used as a settee, is constructed so that the framed support may be swung in relation to the bed frame. As shown the framed support 17 ... 20 is hinged to a cross member 8 carried at each side by an arm 6 pivoted at 5 and the cross member 8 has pivoted thereto at each end a shaped member 7 each pivoted at 10 to a similar shaped member 9 provided with a cross member 10. A cover 12 is secured to the cross members 8, 11 and also to, at least, parts of the members 7, 9, preferably by means of a tension spring threaded through seams at the edges of the cover 12 and adapted to be forced into grooves in the edges of the members 7, 9. To convert from the bed position shown in Fig. 2 to the settee position shown in Fig. 1 the framed member 17 ... 20 is turned down on the bed clothes 22, the outer portion of which is turned over the member 17 ... 20. The members 9 with the cover 12 are now folded on to the members 7 and the whole swung upwardly. Finally the arms 6 are rotated anti-clockwise, bringing the back rest to the position shown in Fig. 1.
