Abstract

711,865. Fluid-pressure gauging-apparatus. SIGMA INSTRUMENT CO., Ltd. July 24, 1952 [July 26, 1951], No. 17787/51. Class 106 (2) A gauging mandrel for use with a pneumatically operated lineardimension gauge comprises a tube 1, Fig. 1, connected at one end to the gauge and having at the other end a circular sectioned head 5 on a spigot 3 extending from the tube 1 so that when the head is inserted in a circular hole 8 to be measured and air is fed through the tube 1 from the gauge, air is constrained to escape to atmosphere through the annular space between the periphery of the head 4 and the wall of the hole 8, the annular space forming the measuring jet of the gauge. A resilient annular washer 6 secured to the end of the tube 1 forms an air-tight seal between the tube 1 and face of the component 7 having the hole 8 to be measured. A mandrel for gauging a small blind hole 13, Fig. 2, comprises a tube 11 connected at one end to the gauge and formed at the other end with a flange 12 forming an annulus for insertion in the hole 13 and the air escapes through the annulus area 14 between the flange 12 and the wall of the hole 13, which area forms the measuring jet.
