711,176. Forcing liquids under gaseous pressure. PYRENE CO., Ltd. Jan. 30, 1953 [Feb. 8, 1952], No. 3431/52. Class 102 (2). [Also in Group XXI] In a fire-extinguisher comprising a container 1 for fluid under pressure with a diaphragm seal 3, a chemical charge 9 operative upon ignition to burn or melt the diaphragm is placed in direct or indirect contact with the diaphragm and is ignited by an electric wire 26. The charge 9 may be enclosed in a casing 10 having a thick outer wall 11 and thin end discs 12, 13 which forms a unit with the electric igniter means. The charge 9 may comprise barium oxide and flake aluminium.
