Abstract

710,612. Automatic frequency control systems. ERIE RESISTOR CORPORATION. July 14, 1952, No. 17692/52. Class 38(4) [Also in Group XXXVI] A capacitor unit having both a voltage and temperature coefficient of capacity and comprising a resistance heating element for heating the dielectric (see Group XXXVI) is used in Fig. 4 for stabilizing oscillator frequency. The tank circuit comprises at 2, 3 the capacitance of the said capacitor unit and the dielectric heating resistance 5 is in the output circuit of a D.C. amplifier 11. With occurrence of frequency drift in tank circuit 2, 3/13/14 an error voltage representative of the drift is amplified at 11 and applied across the dielectric heater 5 and the capacitance electrodes 2, 3 whereby the frequency is connected as the capacitance between 2, 3 changes firstly and directly with the error voltage and secondly with the change in dielectric temperature due to change in current through the heater 5 responsively to the error voltage.
