Abstract

710,522. Filing papers. SHANNON, Ltd. Dec. 1, 1952 [Nov. 30, 1951], No. 28172/51. Class 16. Tabs. A transparent sheath 9 for the protection of a strip label 8 has in crosssection a recess 10 in which a supporting strip 4 and the label 8 lie, and a bulbous rib 13 along one edge adapted to be engaged by and hold a signal 15 presenting a corresponding concavity 16. The sheath 9 is shown as applied to one leaf of a file folder having a suspension bar 2 as described and claimed in Specification 701,578 with the supporting strip 4 as shown. As shown in Fig. 2, the sheath 9 is moulded by extrusion of a plastic to have hooks 11, 12 to fit over strip 4, the bulbous rib 13 and, at the opposite edge, a lip 14 to fit over a tongue 17 . of the signal 15 stretching across the sheath. The wall of the sheath over the label has a part cylindrical face 19 so that the label appears slightly magnified. In a modification, the lip 14 is dispensed with and the rib 13 enlarged so as to hold more securely a curved strip signal extending only over the rib. The sheath 9 is slid over the strip 4 from one end and the signal sprung over the rib 13. The signal may be transparent or not and may be coloured.
