Classes 120(2) and 142(1) Bobbins are mounted on detachable pegs in a creel, the pegs being mounted in pairs with the pegs of each pair converging towards each other less than is usual, so that the bobbins may be closely packed. Each bobbin is mounted on a peg 11 provided with a handle 13 and a member 24 channelled to fit vertical pillars 26 of the creel frame and having slots for engaging pins 27 on the pillars. The pegs are arranged in pairs with the centre lines of each pair converging towards, but intersecting beyond, a common yarnguide eye 38 forming the input guide of a tension device of the type described in Specification 662,442. A yarn in passing from a bobbin to the associated guide eye is led under a guide wire 43 and over a guide edge 44 which deflect the yarn through a point more nearly in alignment with the peg than the guide eye. The yarn from the other bobbin of the pair is tied to the end of the yarn of the first bobbin. When a bobbin is exhausted, the peg together with the empty bobbin is removed from the frame. A long series of. pillars 26 are joined together to form a package chase 49 and an equal number of rods 37 from a tension chase 51, each of the pillars 26 receiving pegs, one above the other, on opposite sides thereof alternatively. Thus the pegs on each pillar 26 serve the tension devices of two different rods 37 so that the vertical spacing of the tension devices is twice that of the pegs. A servicing trolley may be provided having a framework including members similar to the pillars 26.
