Abstract
710,317. Photographic contact-printing apparatus. KODAK, Ltd. June 5, 1952 [June 5, 1951], No. 14230/52. Divided out of 710,274. Class 98(2) A photographic contact-printing apparatus comprises a platen movable to and from a position in which it presses a sheet of light-sensitive paper into contact with an image-bearing area of film, from which a print is to be made, positioned over an exposure aperture, and a holder which is shaped to receive a film clip attached to the leading end of a strip of image-bearing film positioned across the exposure aperture and is mounted on the apparatus in alignment with the film strip and below the level of the exposure frame, whereby that portion of the film strip located between the film clip and the exposure aperture forms a loop which tends to fall away from the exposure aperture. As shown, a base-plate 2 is fixed to the sloping top of a lamp-house 1. A film 3 is placed over an exposure aperture in the base-plate 1, the size of the aperture being variable by means of masking strips 9. A negative and a paper clamp 8, and a platen 4 for pressing the photographic paper and the negative together against the exposure aperture during exposure, are operated by a single operating member as described in Specification 710,274. Arms 7, 10 clamp the film on each side of the exposure aperture. A film clip holder has a base-plate 14 slotted at 15 to engage screws 16 in the side of the lamp-house 1. Compression springs (not shown) surround the shanks of screws 16 between the screw heads and the plate 14, so that the clip holder can be adjusted longitudinally. Arms 18 on the plate 14 have projections 20 forming shoulders to accommodate a film clip 12 fixed to the end of film 3 for identification. The arrangement is such that the loop formed in film 3 between the exposure aperture and the clip is always clear of the path of the platen 4 and tends to fall away from the exposure aperture.
