Class 97(3) A draughting machine for making perspective drawings comprises a drawing board shown in two sections 2, 3; in use a plan view is laid on section 2 and the perspective is drawn on paper on section 3. A bracket 55 attached to section 2 has pivoted thereto at 4 (the viewing centre) a two-armed bar 40, 14 provided with a scale 16 and rigid therewith is a bar 7 (the viewing direction bar) in a groove of which a bar 11 is slidable. Adjustably clamped on bar 11 is a slide 12 to which is pivoted at 13 a bar 22 (representing the picture plane), and adjustable on bar 7 is a slide 6 carrying an arm 8 extending parallel to the arm 14. Slides 9, 10 on arm 8 whose positions on said arm represent the upper and lower ends of vertical lines of the object, are pivoted to arms 19, 18 pivoted together at 17 on a slide 15 on arm 14, the position of this slide on arm 14 representing the elevation of the viewing centre 4. Bar 11 has pivoted thereto at 44 an arm 43 linked at 42 to a bar 39 which extends parallel to arm 11, is slidable in slots in arm 40 and in a bracket 41 attached to arm 7, and has a slide 38 pin and slot connected to the arm 22 at 37. A ruler 23 on section 3 of the drawing board is connected at 24, 25 to carriages 31, 32 slidable in recesses on the under side of this section and having projecting levers 33, 34, Fig. 1. These levers are pin and slot connected at 29, 30 to a lever 26 which extends below section 2 parallel to the bar 7 and is rigidly connected to said bar so as to rock therewith. Lever 34 is connected to a bracket on which is slidable a pin 46 engaged in a slot in arm 43 and lever 33 accommodates a slidable bar 27 which is connected to the bar 11 by a bracket 45. The plan view on section 2 is traced out by a pointer 5 attached to arm 8, the movements of the pointer being transmitted to the ruler 23 and a line being drawn on the paper on section 3 at the end of each adjustment.
