709,068. Pipe joints. FOSTER BROS., Ltd. July 11, 1952 [July 12, 1951], No. 16508/51. Class 99 (1). An expansion joint for pipes comprises telescoping tubular members 1, 4 of which the outer member 1 is provided with an extension 14 of larger diameter than the inner member 4 and with a gland 9, and the inner member is provided with a ringed piston 8 to engage the member 1 and be engaged by the gland, and at its outer end a flange 13 working piston-like within the extension 14. Openings 16 for access to the gland and a stop flange 15 are provided.
