Class 108(2) A vehicle suspension system comprises, in addition to main springing for an axle by, for example, leaf springs, two stabilizing torsion springs which are mounted on the axle and connected in parallel with each other and which exercise a springing action only, or substantially only, in the event of oppositely directed up and down movements of the wheels of the axle. In the arrangement shown in whch a rigid axle 13 is supported by leaf springs 14, 15 a pair of torsion rod springs 20, 21 are secured to opposite sides of the axle and are bent at their ends for connection to brackets 30, 31 on frame members 10, 11 through vertical members 26, 27 and resilient cushions 28, 29. Shock absorbers 32, 33 are also connected between the frame members and the axle by links 34, 35.
