706,901. Photographic liquid-containing film assemblage and magazine therefor. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. Oct. 24, 1947 [Nov. 5, 1946], No. 28457/47. Classes 98(1) and 98(2) The assemblage comprises a layer including a photosensitive portion, a second layer, and a rupturable container holding processing liquid connected together by a leader. The magazine has a wall with an exposure opening, and has a discharge opening having a plurality of pairs of members defining withdrawal openings therein. As shown, Fig. 1, four of the assemblages are in exposure position in magazine 16 which is itself within camera 10; and each assemblage comprises photosensitive portion 30 and leader 32 by which, after exposure, the portion 30 may be drawn over the top of a wall 22 to face the second layer 34, and then drawn, together with the second layer 34 and container 40 through a withdrawal opening out of the magazine, in which process the container 40 is ruptured and the processing liquid spread over the photosensitive area. In the preferred form the photosensitive portion 30 is of silver halide emulsion on an opaque paper base, the second layer 34 is of baryta paper with a black backing whereby processing may proceed within the layers without being affected by daylight, the processing liquid may comprise hydroquinone, sodium sulphite, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, sodium thiosulphate, sodium hydroxide and sufficient water to keep these substances in solution; and a positive image is formed on the layer 34 by migratory transfer and reduction of non-light-affected silver halide from the portion 30; and may be stripped off therefrom. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the rupturable containers are attached to photosensitive layers and the second layers are drawn over the top of the wall, withdrawal openings being located in the front portion of the magazine. In Fig. 5 (not shown), the liquid containers are arranged en echelon instead of side by side. Other figures detail a variety of arrangements for excluding light at the withdrawal openings.
