Abstract

706,801. Boxes ; roll carriers; packaging. VENESTA, Ltd. Oct. 13, 1952 [Oct. 12, 1951; Jan. 29,1952], Nos. 23835/51 and 2413/52. Classes 18, 94 (1) and 133 A carrier for handling rolls of aluminium foil or other strip material comprises a base 6 of plywood, a tubular stem 8 being inserted through a hole in the base until stopped by the flared portion 18, and the rolls 2 fitting over the stem alternately with flat aluminium spacers 20. A cover 10 of plywood, fitted with rolling bands 26, fits round the base 6 and rests on pads 13. The upper end 24 of the cover has a central hole which fits over the reduced end 16 of the stem and is provided with a metal reinforcement 28 and a removable handle 12 of resilient wire which terminates in two hooks 30 engaging transverse holes in the upper part of the stem and prevents downward movement of the stem. Rivets 32 in the hooks prevent the hooks from entering'too far into the holes, and a seal 34 may be provided to prevent tampering with the rolls. The rim 36 locates one carrier on top of another for stacking. In alternative arrangements the cover 10 may be dispensed with, and the carrier may be constructed wholly of sheet aluminium. To locate one carrier on top of another for stacking the upper end of the stem of the lower carrier may be arranged to enter the lower end of the stem of the upper carrier.
