Abstract
706,334. Switch cases; switchboards. ETABLISSEMENTS MERLIN & GERIN. Feb. 26,1951 [March 13, 1950], No. 4660/51. Class 38(5) A distribution switchboard is built up from any desired number of units placed side-by-side, the height and depth from front to back of each unit being of a standard size, and each unit being divided into any required number of compartments by horizontal insulating partitions slidable in grooves (not shown). Each compartment contains a circuit-breaker (not shown) mounted on a chassis 6 having rollers 17 running on rails 8 having extensions 18 pivoted thereto, which are normally raised to the vertical position where they are retained by hooks 16, but which can be lowered to the horizontal position. The circuit-breakers can thus be completely removed from the compartments, as shown at the top of the Figure, may be just pushed into the compartment without engaging plugs at the back of the unit, as shown at the middle of the Figure, or may be pushed right home to engage the plugs. The doors of the compartments have slots 2 through which the breaker operating handles 4 extend when the doors are closed, the handles having knobs 3 so that the doors can only be opened when the knobs coincide with enlargments 14 of the slots, i.e. when the respective breaker is " open ".
