Abstract
705,565. Photographic diazotype layers. GENERAL ANILINE & FILM CORPORATION. Nov. 18, 1952 [Nov. 20, 1951], No. 29127/52. Class 98(2) The layers comprise a stabilized light sensitive diazo compound, a coupling component, zinc chloride and a water soluble inorganic magnesium salt in quantity from 10 to 40 per cent of the combined weights of the zinc chloride and magnesium salt, zinc chloride normally present with the diazo compound being excluded from this percentage. The usual acids, and stabilizing or anti-oxidizing ingredients such as thiourea or allyl isothiocyanate may be included in the layers and the latter may lie on supports as of paper, textiles, felt or regenerated cellulose. Exposure and ammonia development produces brighter clearer images than similar layers in which the magnesium salts are omitted or replaced by more zinc chloride. Seven examples specify, quantitatively, coating solutions for the layers and supports therefor with indications of exposure and ammonia treatment; and, additionally, extensive lists of further diazo compounds, coupling components and supports are provided.
