Abstract

705,465. Dispensing liquefied gas. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. May 20, 1952 [Oct. 26, 1951], No. 12712/52. Class 102 (2). [Also in Group XXI] Liquid carbon dioxide is prevented from freezing and blocking a valve controlled outlet 20 of a high pressure container 10 by mixing with a halogenated hydrocarbon having.freezing and boiling points below and above 70‹ F. at 150 p.s.i. pressure respectively and also an inert compressed gas capable of exerting a pressure of more than 100 p.s.i. at -80‹ F. and which also serves to expel the liquid mixture through a syphon tube 18. The inert gas is preferably nitrogen but may be air, hydrogen, oxygen, argon, helium, neon, carbon monoxide or carbon tetrafluoride and the halogenated hydrocarbons may be any of a given list of twenty seven compressing substituted halogen compounds of methane or ethane in the ratio of one part by weight to between 2 and 8 parts of carbon dioxide. Between 3 and 10 parts of inert gas are associated with between 65 and 140 parts of carbon dioxide and halogenated hydrocarbon combined. Specification 621,019 is referred to.
