Abstract

Derivatives of 4:41 - diaminostilbene - disulphonic acid-(2:21) of the general formula <FORM:0705406/IV (b)/1> in which w represents the radical of a primary or secondary alkylamine, the radical of a hydroxyalkylamine, the radical of an N1:N1-dialkyl-alkylene diamine or the radical of a heterocyclic amine and x, y and z each represent -NH2 or the radical of a primary or secondary amine, y and z being radicals different from w when w is the radical of a secondary amine containing 2 carbon atoms, the radical of a hydroxy- or dihydroxy-alkylamine or the radical of a heterocyclic amine having more than one ring hetero-atom, and y being a radical other than that of an aromatic amine when w and x both represent the radical of dihydroxyalkylamine, wherein 2 mols. of cyanuric chloride or cyanuric bromide are reacted in any order of succession with (a) one mol. of 4:41-diaminostilbene-disulphonic acid-(2:21) or a water-soluble salt thereof, (b) 1-4 mols. of an alkylamine, dialkylamine, hydroxyalkylamine, bis-(hydroxyalkyl)-amine, N1:N1-dialkyl - alkylene diamine or heterocyclic amine and (c) 0-3 mols. of ammonia or 0.3 mols. of a primary or secondary amine, a total of 4 mols. of compounds mentioned under (b) and (c) being reacted and the reaction components being selected to produce an end product of the desired constitution. Examples are given of the preparation of alkali salts of 4:41 - bis - [2 - ethylamino - 4 - anilino or chloranilino - 1:3:5 - triazyl - (6) - amino] - stilbene - disulphonic acid - (2:21), 4 - [2 - ethylamino - 4 - (bis - b - hydroxy - ethylamino) - 1:3:5 - triazyl - (6) - amino] - 41- [2 - methyl - amino - 4 - (b - hydroxy - ethylamino) - 1:3:5 - triazyl - (6) - amino] - stilbene - disulphonic acid - (2:21) and 4 - [2 - methylamino - 4 - (b - hydroxy - ethylamino) - 1:3:5 - triazyl - (6) - amino] - 41 - [2 - ethylamino - 4 - ortho - anisidino - 1:3:5 - triazyl - (6) - amino) - stilbene - disulphonic acid - (2:21).ALSO:Derivatives of 4:4'-diaminostilbene-disulphonic acid-(2.2') of the general formula <FORM:0705406/IV(c)/1> in which w represents the radical of a primary or secondary alkylamine, the radical of a hydroxyalkylamine, the radical of an N1 N1 dialkyl-alkylene diamine or the radical of a heterocyclic amine and x, y and z each represents-NH2 or the radical of a primary or secondary amine, y and z being radicals different from w when w is the radical of a secondary amine containing 2 carbon atoms, the radical of a hydroxy- or dihydroxy-alkylamine or the radical of a heterocyclic amine having more than one hetero-atom, and y being a radical other than that of an aromatic amine when w and x both represent the radical of a dihydroxyalkylamine, are used for increasing the white content of undyed materials and the purity of shade of dyed materials. Materials which may be treated are wool, silk, synthetic polyamide fibres, cellulose materials, cotton, linen, regenerated cellulose and synthetic materials produced by polymerization.
