Abstract
704,701. Step-by-step conveyers; load handling machines ; lowering by balancing. PETRITSCH, J. P. Oct. 17, 1951, No. 24220/51. Classes 78 (1), 78 (2) and 78 (3) [Also in Groups V and XXIX] A plant for manufacturing boards from substances such as fibre cement or asbestos cement comprises a conveyer system associated with means for corrugating soft sheets on moulds (see Group V), and means for stacking the moulds loaded with the corrugated sheets. Stacking of the moulds 2, each carrying a moulded, i.e. corrugated, sheet is accomplished by depositing them from rails 17, 18 on to carriers 19. The rails 17, 18 are pivoted to the frame of the machine and are movable by linkage, Fig. 17, to allow a mould to drop between them on to upper movable portions 73 on the carriers 19, Fig. 12. The carriers sink into hydraulic cylinders 20 under the weight of the mould and displace hydraulic fluid into a container 25, raiding a counterweight 26. The portions 73 are bevelled so that, as the carriers 19 fall, they are caused to tilt and unload the mould on to those previously stacked. The counterweight 26 then causes the carriers 19 to rise ready for the next mould. Operation. An empty mould 2 is pushed along, rails 1 by an element 12 which meets the edge of the mould after it has been dropped on the rails by the release of clamps 75, 76. The element 12 is internally threaded to engage a part 10 of a shaft 6, of which the part 10 has a right-hand thread and a part 11 a left-hand thread. An element 13 engages the part 11 and is similar to 12 except that it has a pivoted arm 46. As the shaft 6 rotates it causes the element 12 to push the mould 2 to the right as seen in Fig. 1, and causes the element 13 to come towards it. At the same time a moving belt 4 carries a soft fibre cement or asbestos cement sheet 3 to an inclined member B over which it slides and settles into the mould as it passes from beneath the belt. The element 12 continues to push the mould until it is in line with the corrugating means, when it opens a switch and stops the rotation of the shaft 6. The element 13 has by then reached the point where its arm 46 is snapped against the rear edge of the mould by a spring and it is ready to push the mould further when the shaft 6 starts to rotate in the opposite direction. The same switch that breaks the circuit of the motor driving the shaft 6 energizes the electromagnet which opens a valve to cause the corrugating of the sheet to be performed hydraulically or pneumatically. When the corrugating is completed the circuit of the motor driving the shaft 6 is closed to cause it to rotate in the opposite direction, and the mould is therefore moved from the corrugating means to the stacking means while the element 12 moves back towards the starting position, at which point it operates a switch to release the clamps 75, 76. The linkage of the stacking means. Fig. 12, is moved by an electromagnet operated by the fluid exhausted from the member 15 at the end of the corrugating operation. The moulds are then stacked as described.
