Abstract
702,787. Detachable handles for containers. CONA, Ltd. June 5, 1952 [July 20, 1951 J, No. 17291/51. Class 61 A detachable handle for a bottle, jar or other liquid container comprises a curved hand grip 1 having at one end a deep recess 6 in which the tails 5 of a pair of jaws 4 are received, the jaws being held in locked position contiguous with the hand grip or in open position displaced outwardly therefrom by a spring-pressed, flnger-operated stud 3 which coacts with the hand grip. The upper surface of each tailpiece has two part-cylindrical depressions 7, 8, the head of the stud 3 engaging the depressions 7 when the jaws are in closed position and the depressions 8 when the jaws are in open position. Each tail-piece has a nose 9 which in the open position of the jaws engages behind the stud. Notches 11 in the inner side walls allow the tail-pieces to slide past the stud. The tails of one or both the jaws are cut away as at 12 to allow complete removal of the jaw by a manipulation. The gripping faces of the jaws are vertical or taper slightly and may be covered with pads of rubber, cork or felt. Specification 694,906, [Group XIV], is referred to.
