702,631. Laminating dough. FREARS & BLACKS, Ltd., and FREARS, J. N. Dec. 29, 1952 [Jan. 10, 1952], No. 793/52. Class 87 (2) [Also in Group VI] Relatively dry baking dough is made to adhere to like dough where required by steaming the dough surface before baking. A dough sheet S passes between rollers 5 and 6, the roller 6 comprising a number of disc cutters 7 which slit the dough into ribbons. The ribbons are then sprayed on one surface by a row of jets 9 of steam from nozzles 10 in a heater 11, the steam being controlled by a valve 13. Thereafter the dough strips become arranged in folds F in sideby-side troughs by oscillating the rolls 5 and 6 to make the folds and -closing them up by reciprocated ram 8, as described in Specification 632,352 for making continuous loaves, the trough T being made up of pairs of side pieces 2 with bottom slats 4 on endless chains 3 so that, on the straight run of the conveyer, the side pieces 2 abut to form a continuous travelling trough.
