Abstract

The tendency of textile fibres, felts, cords, threads, yarns, filaments and fabrics to acquire electrostatic charges is reduced by treatment with an aqueous solution of a compound of the formula:- <FORM:0702089/IV (c)/1> where A is an anion, R1 is an aliphatic radical of from 11-20 carbon atoms and R2 is an alkyl radical of 1-5 carbon atoms. Specified anions are halide, nitrate, phosphate, alkylsulphate, cyanide, acetate, benzoate, citrate and tartrate. Specified R1 radicals are undecyl, lauryl, myristyl, cetyl, oleyl, stearyl and "soyalyl" (the mixture of aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals derived from the mixture of fatty acids occurring as glycerides in soya bean oil). Specified R2 radicals are methyl, ethyl and amyl. Specified compounds are cetyl-ethyl-morpholinium ethosulphate, cetylmethyl morpholinium methosulphate, laurylmethyl morpholinium methosulphate, "solalyl"-ethyl morpholinium ethosulphate, stearyl-methyl morpholinium methosulphate, stearyl-ethyl morpholinium ethosulphate and oleyl-ethyl-, cetyl-methyl- and cetyl-ethyl morpholinium chloride. Textiles of nylon, acetate rayon, viscose rayon, "Orlon" (Registered Trade Mark), cotton, wool, silk, glass and linen may be treated.
