Class 130 A cup 1 receiving a cigarette 2 has a pin 14 sliding in longitudinal grooves in a holder body 4 and is fast on an externally screw-threaded smoke tube 13 co-acting with a nut 16 rigid with a mouthpiece 5, so that on relative rotation of the members 4, 5 the cup and cigarette may be retracted within the body 4 as shown for cigarette extinguishing and storage. The members 4, 5 are retained axially by a ring 17, and the interior of the mouthpiece 5 adjacent the nut 16 acts as a saliva trap. In a modification the screw and nut arrangement is replaced by a radial pin on the smoke tube co-acting with axial and helical grooves in concentric tubular members fast with the members 4, 5, which are connected by a collar on the member 5 which may be inwardly flanged to co-act with a groove in the member 4 or plain to allow separation of the members as for the insertion in the member 5 of a smoke filter unit.
