Abstract

A non-staining reclaim rubber composition is prepared by blending devulcanized rubber crumbs with a non-staining oil, such as hydrocarbon oil and rosin oil, passing the blend through a strainer, masticating the blend with unvulcanized rubber, which may be a butadiene-styrene co-polymer, and an absorbent e.g. an activated carbon black or charcoal or clay, and then passing it through a refiner.ALSO:A non-staining reclaim rubber composition is prepared by blending devulcanized rubber crumbs with a non-staining oil, passing the blend through a strainer, masticating the blend with unvulcanized rubber and an absorbent and passing it through a refiner to provide a sheet stock. Devulcanizing is effected with a non-staining oil, and the devulcanized rubber is dried before blending with additional non-staining oil. The unvulcanized rubber may be natural or synthetic and specified absorbents are activated carbon black, activated charcoal or clay. Rosin oil is the preferred non-staining oil.
