A hot pliable sheet 2 of transparent acrylic ester resin is clamped at its margin between a matrix 1 and an upper member 3, and air under pressure is directed through a passage 3a in member 3 against the upper surface of the sheet, which is thus forced into conformity with the matrix, which has a bulbous depression corresponding to the natural iris and pupil. When the material has hardened the marginal edges are cut off.
