698,878. Foundry moulding-machines. FOUNDRY PLANT & MACHINERY, Ltd., and AFFLECK, J. May 7, 1951 [May 6,1950; Sept. 22, 1950], Nos. 11295/50 and 23257/50. Class 83 (i). A sand-slinger, of the kind in which the ramming head (not shown), is carried by an arm 4 swinging on a second arm 1 itself swinging about a main column (not shown), is characterized in that at least one of the arms is moved by an electric motor 2 through a transmission comprising rotary members only. The transmission may comprise a gear-box 3, an enclosed shaft 6 having flexible couplings 7, a worm 8 and a worm-wheel 9 mounted on a shaft (not shown), pivoted in a hollow support 5 and secured to the arm 4. A motor 10 supplies power for the ramming head (not shown). The switches 12, Fig. 3, controlling the motors, are connected thereto by a flexible cable 13 and are' mounted in a box 11 strapped to the operator.
