Abstract

698,775. Walking aids. OWEN, R. July 17, 1952 [July 31, 1951], No. 18080/51. Class 132 (i). A walking aid for invalids comprises a wheeled frame carrying uprights with pads to fit under the patient's arm-pits and a truss adapted to be fastened round the patient's body so that he can propel the aid with his feet without his legs carrying any weight. The frame comprises horizontal tubular members a, b and vertical tubular members c, d and carries uprights p. The uprights each carry a swivelling pad rand are joined by a back strap s and a padded member t with straps u forming a truss. Rear wheels e are mounted at the junction of members c and b. The front wheels R are mounted on stirrups i each pivoted at one end to frame b and at the other to a bar j adapted to be rotated through lever k by rod u on which is mounted steering wheel o.
