A method of securing glass lenses on a vitreous enamelled board comprises coating at least those parts of the board to which the lenses are to be fixed with a thin layer of an adhesive substance which becomes soft and transparent on firing and has a basis of metal oxides and silicates, e.g. kaolin or glass, and a softening temperature below that of the lenses, arranging the lenses on the coated part of the board, firing the board and lenses to soften the adhesive whereby it'is caused to unite with the vitreous enamel and the lenses so that on subsequent cooling the adhesive will vitrify and fix the lenses firmly on the board. To increase reflection, the enamel of the board may be covered with a metallic coating. The adhesive substance may be coloured. Compositions of adhesive substance are specified.
