Abstract
625,466. Glass manufacture; enamels. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., STANWORTH, J. E., and DALE, A. E. Jan. 21, 1947, No. 1895. [Class 56] A glass for use as a seal between metals, glasses or ceramic parts or as an enamel on metals such as copper, aluminium, iron and silver has a composition within the following ranges (weight per cent), the two specific examples having thermal expansion coefficients approaching those of iron and mica respectively: -PbO 70-92, 87, 83,. B 2 O 3 6-15, 8, 12, BaO 0-15, 0, 0, ZnO 0-15, 5, 5, SrO 0-15, 0, 0 (BaO + ZnO + SrO 2-15), Al 2 O 3 and/or TiO 2 and/or SiO 2 0-5, 0, 0. The glass is stated to flow at temperatures not exceeding 450‹C. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 613,896.
